USPTA Pro 1 Bob Klyce is the head tennis professional at both Oak Park Swim & Racquet Club in Santa Rosa, and Sonoma Golf Club in Sonoma, California. In addition, Bob is an active associate tennis professional at Meadowood Resort in St. Helena, California working with Doug King. Bob has been a member of USPTA since 1984, and has had the privilege of working years at such clubs as Mill Valley Tennis Club, Mount Tam Racquet Club, Rafael Racquet Club, the Airport Club, and Wikiup Tennis & Swim Club. Bob is a graduate of San Jose State University, where he majored in physical education, and minored in health science. He received a teaching credential from Dominican College, and was the director of athletics at Dominican College for three years. While at the Airport Club, Bob became certified as a personal trainer by the American Council on Exercise.
Bob's professional highlights include playing in the USTA League Men's 5.0 and 5.5 National Championships, coaching Terra Linda High School to two MCAL championships, and a No. 7 singles ranking in Northern California (now 5.5 categories). Bob and his brother, Harvey, have won numerous Marin and Sonoma open doubles championships, and Bob has appeared in six Marin County open singles championships. Bob continues to be an active competitor on many USTA league teams.
Bob has been a 20-year plus tennis director for the University of California Adult Weeks - "Club Lair" and "Sport and Recreation Week" - www.lairofthebear.org in Pinecrest, Calif. In addition, Bob instructs tennis programs for Scott Borowiak Golf and Tennis Tours in Mexico and Italy (www.tennisandgolftours.com). Lastly, Bob has been a 20 year Wilson Advisory Staff member for new racquets and tennis equipment.
